1997 NLDS Game 1: Marlins 2 – Giants 1 (W: Cook)

Marlins take a 1-0 lead over the Giants with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory. Charles Johnson the game at 1 with a home run to left field. Edgar Renteria drove in Johnson in the bottom of the ninth, with two outs, to score the winning run. Two good innings by Dennis Cook earned him the win. Brown pitched 7 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run.

Marlins Can Clinch Tonight

The Florida Marlins can officially claim the National League Wild-Card by beating the New York Mets, tonight at 7:05 at Pro Player Stadium. This would be the first playoff appearance for the 5-year old club. The Marlins can also clinch with a Dodgers Loss.
