Livan Hernandez struck out 15 Braves to lead the Marlins to a 2-1 victory and a 3-2 series lead over the Braves. The 15 strikeouts tied a Major League Championship record and set a National League Championship record. This was Livan’s longest career outing, throwing 142 pitches in a complete game.

Bobby Bonilla accounted for 3 of the Marlins’ hits driving in the first run and scoring the winning run. In a key moment, in the 8th inning, Charles Johnson threw out Lofton attempting to steal second ending the Braves’ threat.
