Mets 3 – Marlins 1: Dempster Destroys Mets

Ryan Dempster tossed a complete game one-hit shutout as the Marlins beat the Mets 3-0. Dempster (3-2) struck out eight Mets, allowing only a sixth-inning double to former Marlin Mike Piazza. The Marlins took a 1-0 lead in the first on three consecutive hits by Luis Castillo, David Berg, and Cliff Floyd, who drove in Castillo. In the eight Floyd doubled, followed by a Preston Wilson RBI double, and then a Mike Lowell RBI double. The Marlins won the series with the Mets 2-1 and returned to .500 with a 16-16 record.
