Dempster an All-Star

Ryan Dempster was named a National League All-Star for the 2000 All-Star game to be played in Atlanta. Dempster is 9-4 this season with a 3.39 ERA. He will join a National League roster which includes several former Marlins including Gary Sheffield, Kevin Brown, Carl Everett, and Trevor Hoffman. The 2000 All-Star game was initially scheduled for Pro Player Stadium, but baseball moved the game for no reason. Despite league-leading numbers, Marlins closer Antonio Alfonseca and second baseman Luis Castillo were not selected.
