The Marlins acquired right-handed pitcher Manny Aybar from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for right-handed pitcher Jorge Cordova, who is currently on the roster of the Marlins’ Class A affiliate, Kane County. A 25-year-old native of Bani, Dominican Republic is 1-2 with a 5.19 ERA in 33 relief appearances with Cincinnati. Prior to being placed on the disabled list on July 2 with a strained right groin, Aybar ranked second among National League relievers with 52.0 innings pitched. To make room, the Marlins designated Ron Mahay for assignment.
