The Florida Marlins have acquired outfielder Henry Rodriguez and cash consideration from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for minor league outfielder/first baseman Ross Gload off the Marlins’ AA Portland roster and left-handed pitcher David Noyce off the roster of Class A Brevard County. “We were able to acquire a professional hitter that will provide some stability to the middle of our lineup, now that Cliff Floyd has incurred an injury,” said Dombrowski. “We expect Henry will help us win more games over the remainder of the season.” A 32-year-old native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the 6-2, 225 lb. Rodriguez is expected to report to the Marlins as soon as possible at which time the Marlins will make a roster move to make room for Rodriguez on the Marlins’ 25-man roster.
