After another 9th inning meltdown, the Marlins have designed Logan Kensing for assignment. Graham Taylor will come up from AA to pitch Sunday’s series finale against the Phillies.
Here is the video highlight of the Fish’s 5th consecutive loss:
The Fish needed a comeback to win the game, but thanks to 6 scoreless innings from the bullpen and a Cody Ross game-tying home run in the top of the 9th, the Marlins beat the Nationals 3-2 and have now started the season 9-1, the best start in franchise history.
It wasn’t as dominating as the first two games, but the Marlins beat the Nats 6-4 for only the second 3-0 start in franchise history (the other happened in 1997).
I guess throwing a no-hitter in Spring Training made the decision easier for Fredi Gonzalez.
As expected, Josh Johnson will take the second spot and Chris Volstad will pitch the third game. Either Anibal Sanchez or Andrew Miller will take the fourth spot with the other going to the bullpen until April 18th, when the Marlins will need a fifth starter.
