Funny that we laugh at Oakland but it was just recently that we were an at-risk, low-spending but talent rich, bad stadium ball club.
A’s resemble Marlins about 5 years ago. Good talent, fiscally prudent, low enthusiasm, and bad stadium with new ballpark win on the horizon.
A’s definitely wanted Cespedes more. They were willing to pay him $3MM more per year than the #Marlins Can’t blame him.
Let’s see how quickly we can drop @YoennisCespedes follower count (before the A’s fans jump in)
Yes, Cespedes was all money. Marlins tried to buy out his entire prime (26-32). Now he gets same money with chance to sign big deal at 30.
Oakland means lower expectations for Cespedes. Even if they get OK to move to San Jose, his deal will be over by time ballpark is ready.
In the end, it’s always the team you don’t expect that comes in and overpays.
I like Oakland, I go there often, but it’s obvious Cespedes has never been there. #NotMiami
