• Marlins Name GM Dan Jennings As Manager

  • In an odd twist that is uniquely Marlins, the Fish have named Dan Jennings their manager. Yes, the Marlins General Manager is forgoing his current position to become the on-field manager.

Jennings brings little on-field experience having never managed or played in the Majors or Minors. He did attend Spring Training with the Yankees Class A affiliate in 1984 but did not make the team. Soon thereafter he coached the baseball team at Davidson High School in Mobile, Alabama. Jennings joined the Marlins as Vice President of Player Personnel in 2002 and was named the Marlins’ assistant general manager in September 2007. After the Marlins fired Larry Beinfest, the Marlins promoted Jennings to general manager.
