• Marlins Launch a Fans First Initiative

  • The Florida Marlins announced Friday the formation of the Club’s new Fans First initiative, a commitment to provide an increased level of service and a fan-friendly atmosphere at the ballpark while remaining affordable. The program includes the Fans First Rewards Program, the creation of a Customer Service Department, a new Stadium umbrella policy, unchanged ticket prices for the 2000 season and much more.

  • The Florida Marlins announced Monday they have agreed to terms with infielder Amaury Garcia, left-handed pitcher Armando Almanza and right-handed pitchers A.J. Burnett, Jared Camp, Joe Fontenot and Nelson Lara on one-year contracts for the 2000 season. Terms were not disclosed.

  • FanFest 2000 Scheduled for February 19-20

  • The Fifth Annual Bank of America Marlins FanFest 2000 will take place February 19-20 from 10 am-4 pm at Pro Player Stadium. The annual baseball extravaganza, which marks the start of individual game ticket sales for the 2000 Marlins season, is free to all fans and features baseball activities for fans of all ages. This year’s event boasts a number of new activities, including the chance to take photos with Marlins players in the dugout, sample the Taste of Baseball Food Court and visit the National Pastime Baseball Museum.

  • Marlins Kick Off Preseason Caravan

  • The Marlins will begin their annual preseason Marlins Caravan on Monday, February 7 with a pep rally at Frederick Douglas Elementary in Miami. Chairman John W. Henry, Marlins players, coaches, broadcasters, front office staff and Billy the Marlin will visit dozens of schools, hospitals, senior centers and businesses in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties over the upcoming week.

  • 150 Games to be Televised This Season

  • The Florida Marlins announced Sunday the television and radio broadcast schedule for the 2000 regular season, featuring 150 of the team’s 162 games on SportsChannel Florida and WAMI Channel 69, an increase of 20 games from last season. The announcement was made by Vice President of Communications and Broadcasting Ron Colangelo.
