Livan Hernandez never had control of his pitches and the Mets lit him up from the begining, beating the Marlins 12-3. The only bright spot for the Marlins was a Preston Wilson 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth. The bad news continued as Cliff Floyd will now be out of the line up for 2-4 weeks. Box Score.
Justin Speier, aquired along with Kevin Orie from the Cubs last season, was traded to the Braves for a player to be named later. Speier had an 0-3 record with an 8.38 ERA in 18 games last season.

Cliff Floyd, who lead the Marlins in home runs, RBI, and set a club record in doubles will start the season on the disabled list due to a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Floyd recently signed a 4 year contract estimated at $19 million. Preston Wilson will finally get a chance to start everyday in left field.
