The Marlins have selected LHP Andrew Heaney with the 9th pick in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.
Heaney is a Junior at Oklahoma State University where he racked up awards including 2012 Louisville Slugger Division I First-Team All-American, 2012 Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Year and All-Big 12 First Team performer. This past season, he has compiled an 8-2 record and a 1.60 ERA in 15 starts. He lead the NCAA with 140 strikeouts in 118.1 innings and opponent his .180 against him.
Raised in Oklahoma City, Heaney attended Putnam City High School. He is 6-2 and weights 174 pounds and turns 21 tomorrow (June 5th).
