The Fish needed a comeback to win the game, but thanks to 6 scoreless innings from the bullpen and a Cody Ross game-tying home run in the top of the 9th, the Marlins beat the Nationals 3-2 and have now started the season 9-1, the best start in franchise history.
5-1 win over the Braves improves the Marlins to a league-leading 6-1 record.

It wasn’t as dominating as the first two games, but the Marlins beat the Nats 6-4 for only the second 3-0 start in franchise history (the other happened in 1997).
Yes, the Marlins were eliminate from playoff contention with 5 games left in the season. It was fun while it lasted.
Josh Johnson was incredible tonight, throwing the Marlins second complete game of the season holding the Braves to one run and striking out eight. I know the Fish have a long way to go to catchup to the Phillies and we’ve all heard about the 18 arbitration eligible players but when you look at Johnson, Ricky Nolasco, Anibal Sanchez, Chris Volstad, Scott Olsen and even Andrew Miller you have to believe that this team is going to do really well very soon.
The Marlins have another day off today — perhaps a chance for the Marlins offense to regroup. Thankfully, Ricky Nolasco saved the team on Sunday (on the mound and at the plate).
Once again the Fish offense stayed very quiet but thanks to great pitching the Marlins managed a 2-1 win over the Cubs.
It’s all about the pitching.
We’ll remember this game from Dan Uggla’s game winning grand slam in the bottom of the ninth, but let’s not forget the incredible pitching by Andrew Miller (7 IP, 1 ER, 1BB, 7 SO) and Jorge Cantu’s two home runs. Sadly, only 14,122 showed up to watch another playoff-like match up between two top teams in the National League.

As a Marlins fan who does not live in South Florida, can anyone explain to me why people STILL wouldn’t be turning out to see this team? They’re playing well, they’re practically giving tickets away, I just understand it.
When I look at the S. Florida newspaper and television station websites, I usually have to dig around until I can find some Marlins news. Is there any interest in this team at all down there from the media??
I like to think if I still lived down there, I would be going to Marlins games a few times a month at least. I do try to catch a game every time they are in my neck of the woods (NY).
