• The Hanley Ramirez Era is Over

  • Sources are reporting that the Marlins have traded Hanley Ramirez with Randy Choate to the Los Angeles Dodgers for minor leaguers Nathan Eovaldi and Scott McGough.

Once considered the franchise, Ramirez has put up sub-par numbers over the past season and a half and all but lost the appreciation and patience of his teammates. For the Marlins, it signifies a change of an era that began in 2006 with the likes of Ramirez, Uggla, Sanchez, Nolasco and Johnson. Additionally, Ramirez was due $31.5 million over the next two season, far more than his performance deserved.

Hanley leaves as a 3-time All-Star, 2006 Rookie of the Year, and 2009 batting champ.
