• Seriously, I know everyone hates Loria but trading Nolasco made sense. Free agent and isn’t coming back. Better to get something now.

    • This was a pure dollar trade. I mean the Marlins were only given 3 marginal prospects for Nolasco, but they are off the hook in paying him and were going to lose him for maybe nothing anyway via free agency. I mean at least now they get 3 players instead of 1 compensatory pick if they kept him and gave him a qualifying offer.

  • Marlins Trade Ricky Nolasco to the Dodgers

  • It’s official. The Marlins have traded Ricky Nolasco and the Marlins’ fourth-selection of the 2013 International Bonus Pool to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Angel Sanchez, Steven Ames and Josh Wall in exchange for free-agent-to-be Ricky Nolasco.

Acquired in 2006, Nolasco was the Marlins all-time leader in wins, losses, and strikeouts. The dominican born Angel Sanchez was the #8 prospect in the Dodgers farm system. Both Steve Ames and Josh Wall are closers in the minors with Ames recorded 18 saves with a 1.56 ERA at AA and Wall collecting 28 saves at AAA last season.
