• Facing little hope for any legislative solution, following Governor Bush’s threatened veto, Marlins owner John Henry has looking into building a small $100 million ballpark which may be expanded to host 35,000 fans and add a retractable roof. On April 5, just as the Florida Legislature was no the verge of approving a measure which would have allowed Miami-Dade voters to vote on the a cruise-ship tax, Governor Jeb Bush caved in to the Cruise Industries heavy lobbying and threatened to veto the measure, effectively killing it. After several weeks of poor attendance, despite an exciting winning team, Henry has asked architects to design a smaller venue. No site has been chosen for such a smaller park.
