The Marlins just announced several major moves, likely coming from a management meeting after last night’s loss to the Reds.
Veras struggled to get outs recording an ERA in the mid 14s while Bonifacio didn’t show any improvement after a challenging 2009 season. Perhaps playing everyday in a lower-pressure environment will allow him to work on the fundamental values he can bring to a game (getting on base, using his speed, etc.)
Matt Lindstrom was activated of the DL and will join the Fish along with newly acquired Nick Johnson. To make room, Brett Carroll was sent down along with Gaby Sanchez. Tough luck for Carroll who showed some spark lately and has been a strong defensive presence late in games.

As we hit the expanded September rosters, the Marlins have called up 5 players: Dallas McPherson, Robert Andino, Andrew Miller, Brett Carroll, and Eulogio De La Cruz.
Marlins fans should be very excited to watch McPherson who leads all of Minor League Baseball with 42 home runs. With so many players facing arbitration, Dallas may be auditioning for a starting job next year.
Following a sweep by the Dodgers, Fredi Gonzalez has decided to shake things up a bit with a new lineup:
Amezaga, Hermida, Ramirez, Jacobs, Cantu, Uggla, Gonzalez, Rabelo.
Finally we can see Hanley Ramirez bat in his ideal position. This lineup also places Dan Uggla 6th where his low batting average and high strikeouts are better suited.
Absent from this lineup is Josh Willingham who was placed on the DL. Brett Carroll is back to take his spot.
The Marlins activated Jeremy Hermida off the 15-day DL and optioned Brett Carroll to AAA.
The injury to Alejandro De Aza has really scrambled the roster just hours before opening day. With De Aza on the DL, the Marlins decided, surprisingly, to bring up Robert Andino and send down Alexis Gomez. Brett Carroll is already here and with Robert Andino around, expect Alfredo Amezaga to see time in CF.
Update: De Aza out 4-6 weeks.
The Marlin placed Mike Rabelo on the disabled list and are likely to keep Paul Hoover around until he returns.
Not yet confirmed but it is likely that Jeremy Hermida will also start the season on DL meaning either Alexis Gomez or Brett Carroll will join the opening day roster.
